Spring is Sprung – How to be Green and Caring

bridge in background, path with trees in foreground

To wrap up our series, join Robin Reilly, Ben O’Brien and Jennifer Gagné to answer all your questions about things green – this time trees and plants. Robin manages a hobby farm – Black River Forest Garden – he has a Masters Degree in Landscape Gardening with a specialization in land restoration and organic gardening. Ben is owner of ‘Wild by Design’ – a landscape design business specializing in richly planted naturalistic gardens. Jen works at the Nature Conservancy of Canada as a conservation biology coordinator and does stewardship work for the Napanee Plain and Eastern Lake Ontario Coast Natural Areas.

We love nature, especially our gardens. They reminds us of the analogy between healthy ecosystems and healthy societies. To be a gardener is to be a special kind of leader – gently shaping and nurturing with deep empathy and intelligence. And caring for nature is surely the beginning of caring for each other so that we can all grow instead of a fierce dog-eat-dog struggle where only a few are left standing.
