A complete street is coming to Bayview – Let’s make it the best it can be!

The Bayview Bridge, which spans the West Don River, and runs north of Lawrence Ave East is in need of rehabilitation and an Environmental Assessment will be initiated by Toronto Transportation Services in 2024. This section of Bayview will be rehabilitated according to the City of Toronto’s Complete Street Guidelines and adhere to the City’s Vision Zero Road Safety Plan. By design it should include safe spaces for people to walk and bike, effective access and smooth movement of transit and traffic calming measures to ensure vehicle speeds comply with the posted speed limits.

This project represents the first step in bringing more safety improvements to the Bayview corridor. We are expecting that the bridge rehabilitation work will be included in the 2025-2027 Near-term Cycling Network Plan. These are the projects that will be completed in 2025 – 2027 and the City will be holding public consultations on these soon and we need people to come out and speak up for Bayview to be included in the final plan.

There will be a public consultation in North York on Tuesday November 28th, 5 pm to 7:30 pm at Victoria Village Library, 184 Sloane Ave.
